Till ke laddu (sweet sesame balls)

This is a traditional sweet(mithai) made by many households during festive season in India. It has sweet and a nutty flavor with a tinge of bitterness coming out of the toasted sesame seeds which compliments the sweets very well. It's very simple to make.

Ingredients Serves-25 small laddus
  • 1 cup white sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup jaggery
  • 1 tbsp of clarified butter(ghee)
Method
  1. Heat up a pan(non-stick is preferable).Add in the sesame seeds and toast it till it turns light golden brown. Make sure not to toast it for too long and keep stirring continuously.Else it might turn very bitter in taste.
  2. Take another pan(non-stick) and melt the clarified butter.Once it's melted add in the jaggery.Stir it continuously till it gets melted.Once bubbles start forming at the edges of the pan you'll know it's ready to proceed towards the next step.
  3. Add in the toasted sesame seeds and mix it well.
  4. Once the sesame seeds are properly blended with the jaggery switch off the gas and transfer the mixture into a greased plate.
  5. Wait till it's cooled down a bit. When you start making the laddus make sure the mixture is still warm..It is very important that you make the laddus when the mixture is warm .Once it cools down it solidifies and becomes hard.If the mixture sticks to your hands then apply some ghee in your palms.Make these yummy laddus for your loved ones and Eat it up! :)
